Ria Formosa

Classified as a Natural Park and located in the eastern area of the Algarve between the sandy peninsulas of Ancão and Manta Rota, the Ria Formosa- where the natural park area occupies 44.500 acres - is separated from the sea by a  row of barrier islands and fed by fresh water courses .

It is a paradise for  birdwatching lovers.  Don’t miss the  Camão or Galinha-sultana( a bird chosen as a symbol of the Natural Park), and other emblematic species such as the colorful flamingos.
